A newborn baby has been found 2.5 metres down a drain alongside a highway in Sydney's west.
A group of cyclists riding on a bike track beside the M7 at Quakers Hill heard cries coming from the drain around 7.30am on Sunday.
Passers-by helped lift the grate and discovered a baby boy lying at the bottom.

Police who rescued him say he had no obvious signs of injury but has been taken to Westmead Children's Hospital for checks.
