Acer unveiled today an updated version of its Liquid Leap wearable, adding a “plus” to the name. It does bring more to the table though, than the marginal name change suggests.
Most importantly, the smartband offers support for all three major operating systems, so you can pair it with the smartphone of your choosing. The Acer Leap Manager app is available for Android, iOS and Windows and the wearable communicates with your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0.
Adding to the accessory’s flexibility, exchangeable wrist bands offer further personalization with bright colors for active use and more formal black for the office.
The Acer Liquid Leap+ is a compact wearable with a 1-inch monochrome OLED display with touchscreen interface and no physical controls. The body is IPX7 certified for immersion up to a meter for up to 30 minutes and Acer claim a battery life in the 5-7 day range.
The usual fitness functions are covered, with steps count, running distance and calories burned. Notification from your smartphone are also displayed on the wristband, to make sure you don’t miss that all-important text, while on the run.
Building on top of that, the Liquid Leap+ can also be used as a remote for your the music player in your phone, while it remains safely tucked in your pocket or too far from you on the table across the room.
