Kanye West's past came back to haunt him during a deposition in the case brought against him by a photographer he scuffled with in 2013.
During a meeting with his lawyer and the plaintiff's legal representative, the rapper admitted to being convicted of a felony 14 years ago, according to TMZ, who obtained the deposition.
But Kanye, now 37 and wed to Kim Kardashian, went on to say he received unfair treatment from police at the time because of his hairstyle and the shirt he was wearing.
'I was racially profiled by cops for having braids': That is the claim Kanye West reportedly made in a deposition stemming from his recent assault case while talking about a previous felony conviction in 2000
'I was racially profiled for having a white T-shirt and braids,' Kanye said in the deposition, as reported by TMZ.
'I was driving a white Ford Expedition. When I saw the police report, they crossed out where it said "Cream Ford Explorer,'" Kanye allegedly said in the deposition.
Kanye said that he was arrested and charged for stealing printers from an OfficeMax store in Illinois back in 2000.

Singled out: Kanye reportedly said in the deposition that cops singled him out for wearing a white T-shirt too
He went on to say that he had already made a name for himself as a music producer, claiming the incident had been 'a mistaken identity for stealing some printers from OfficeMax after I was a platinum producer.'
TMZ reported that the opposition's lawyer said, 'I'm sure that wasn't in the charge that you were... a platinum producer.'
Unfair treatment: The Yeezus hitmaker (pictured with wife Kim Kardashian on Jan. 16) reportedly claimed that prior conviction for stealing printers from an OfficeMax store was 'a mistaken identity'
Kanye replied, 'Yeah, I believe so. I think that's what - I think that's what - where America had me at that time for having braids.'
The more recent case stemmed from an August 2013 incident in which Kanye got into a physical altercation with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.
The photographer sued, claiming he had been attacked by the Yeezus hitmaker.
Kanye, who pleaded no contest to one count of battery, was placed on 24 months of probation and ordered to perform 240 hours of community service, as well as complete 24 anger management sessons.
