Excellent half of football, one of the best and most open
games of the season. Pochettino will be berating referee Moss – but
Tottenham still very much in this, unlike other recent games against
City.
HALF-TIME: Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham
And there we have it. Referee Moss brings an end to the
first-half proceedings. This game could easily be 5-3 at the minute but
instead it's 2-1 to the Premier League champions. Fantastic stuff.
Chance - Jesus Navas
Etienne Capoue is dispossed by James Milner and City break.
Aguero plays in Navas who brings out another save from Lloris. The
France international must be dying for the half-time whistle.
Tottenham rally back
This game has been breathtaking and we've only had 42 minutes
of it so far. Tottenham attack and Mason sees his drive brilliantly
parried away by Hart. For all of City's pressure the visitors will be
encouraged by their performance at present.

Some of City’s attacking play us breath taking but Spurs
really aren’t helping themselves. City press the ball relentlessly when
they don’t have it which means the opposition must be sure of themselves
when they have it. Spurs are failing in this regard, giving the ball
away cheaply in the wrong areas. The visiting team must also stay on
their feet when players like Silva and Aguero have the ball. If you dive
in, you will find yourselves tackling fresh air – or even worse –
opposition flesh and bone. The Kaboul challenge on Silva for City’s
second penalty was reckless in the extreme.

This feels like the Lloris v Aguero show.
Big chance - Aguero
He could and perhaps should have four goals already. Looking
to rectify his penalty miss Aguero torments the Spurs defence once more
but sees his shot beaten away by Lloris. Tottenham are hanging on at the
moment.

In New York they must be wondering if they will ever get
their hands on Frank Lampard. The further this season goes, the more
important Lampard begins to look for Manchester City. He has played a
part in setting up both City goals here, even if a thigh strain looks
like ending his afternoon early. Lampard is due at New York City FC at
the end of January. Will Manuel Pellegrini really want to let him go?
PENALTY MISS - AGUERO
He is human after all! The Argentina international goes down
the middle this time but sees his effort saved by the legs of Lloris.
The rebound comes back to Aguero but he blazes his effort over the bar
acrobatically.
Penalty - Manchester City
Tottenham don't help themselves as they concede another
penalty this time Younes Kaboul scithing down Silva. Aguero is stepping
up to try and complete his hat-trick...
Lampard off, Fernandinho on
After talking to the physios Lampard's afternoon is cut short
as he is carried off on a stretcher by the medics. Brazil international
Fernandinho comes on as his replacement.
Frank Lampard - Thigh Injury
Lampard signals to the bench that he can't carry on as he
falls to the ground on the halfway line after pulling up with a thigh
injury.
Nice touch by Tottenham fans
Spurs fans stand up and applaud in the memory of fellow fan
Tom Clark in the 24th minute. The 23-year-old sadly died this week and
was due to travel to watch his side play today as part of his 24th
birthday celebrations.

I think if that was anyone other than Frank Lampard we would be saying: foreign player, goes to ground too easily.
GOAL! AGUERO (20 mins) MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 Tottenham
Sergio Aguero makes no mistake from the spot sending Lloris
the wrong way with the penalty. He now has 59 Premier League goals for
the club - making him their top scorer in England's top flight.
Aguero (right) grabs his and City's second with a penalty in the 20th minute
Penalty - Manchester City
First real talking point of the game. Lampard goes down under
the challenge of Erik Lamela and referee Jonathan Moss has no
hesitation to point to the spot.
GOAL! Eriksen (15 mins) Manchester City 1-1 TOTTENHAM
City's lead lasts all of one minute and 39 seconds and they
only have themselves to blame. Fernando loses the ball inside his own
half and Tottenham break. Soldado releases Eriksen who unleashes an
unstoppable shot past Hart. Game on.
Eriksen (centre right) equalises for Spurs just a minute and 39 seconds later with a blistering strike
GOAL! AGUERO (13 mins) MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 Tottenham
Right on cue, City's pressure has amounted in the first goal
of the game and it's Aguero. Played through by Lampard on the left-hand
edge of the box, the Argentina international checks back onto his right
foot before unleashing a shot past Lloris into the bottom right-hand
corner of the net. No wonder Pochettino rates his compatriot so highly.
Aguero celebrates his strike to give City a 1-0 lead against Tottenham
Manchester City pressure
The Premier League champion are starting to assert some
pressure 13 minutes gone into the match. Jesus Navas, Sergio Aguero and
David Silva are beginning to see a lot of the ball in dangerous areas.
Big chance - Ryan Mason
Pochettino's side have started brightly and should be 1-0 up.
Ryan Mason finds his way into the Manchester City box one-on-one with
Hart but sees his toe-poked effort saved by the England international.
Fantastic chance.
First Tottenham shot
Spurs are ready made for the counter-attack against City
today and fire an early warning when Nacir Chadli breaks before pulling
the ball back to Ryan Mason who drags his shot wide from the outside of
the box.
No nightmare start for Spurs
In the corresponding fixture last season, Tottenham were
already 1-0 down after 14 seconds when a Hugo Lloris' error allowed
Jesus Navas to score. Luckily for Spurs no such scenario has happened
yet.
We're underway at the Etihad
Sergio Aguero and David Silva get proceedings started. Here we go...
