With the fourth season's record high ratings, Game Of Thrones became U.S, cable network HBO's highest rated show of all time.
So now, it's no surprise that the show's main stars are have secured a share of the spoils.
According to Deadline,
Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Nikolaj
Coster-Waldau have all signed deals which secures them around $300,000
an episode.
Dance with dragons: Emilia Clarke as
Daenerys Targaryen, the Queen of Dragons in Game Of Thrones, has
negociated a new contract, according to new reports
The actors have also extended their contracts to run through a seventh season of the George R.R. Martin adapted show.
Previously
contracted through to the sixth season, the stars are said to have
negotiated their contracts separately over the past two months with Kit,
Lena and Emilia closing their contracts first followed by Peter
and Nikolaj in what the website describes as 'marathon talks.'
All five actors have been busy reprising their roles in the fifth season.
New deal:
Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage as Cersei and Tyrion Lannister will get
more cash per episode and will appear until the seventh season
Heart-throb: Nickolaj Coster-Waldau, pictured as Jaime Lannister has also signed on until series seven
Tyrion
Lannister (Dinklage) has fled after murdering his father Tywin
Lannister (Charles Dance) while Night's Watchman Jon Snow (Kit
Harington) will have to pick up the pieces following the epic battle at
The Wall.
Clarke's
character Daenerys Targaryen continues to carve out her own regal
empire, while Jaime Lannister is sent on a mission to Dorne following
the shocking defeat and death of Prince Oberyn Martell by Ser Gregor
Clegane during a trial by combat at King's Landing.
The
show's success has brought an increasing amount of recognition for the
actors, with Emmy-Award winner Peter describing the exposure as 'crazy.'
No trip to Spain for Jon Snow: Kit Harington normally films in the icy climes of Iceland
'When you’re on a TV show you get recognised more [than doing films] because it’s immediate,' he told Entertainment Weekly earlier
this year. 'Like, “You were in my living room last night.” So, that’s
changed me quite a bit. I'm not one of those people who takes it in
stride. I’m a private person in many ways.'
British
actor Kit added to GQ: 'I think people like [the show] because people
actually respond to not being treated like idiots. It's a really complex
story, and it's very hard to follow, and people love working that
puzzle out.
'And I mean essentially why I think people like it is it's a rollicking good story with sex and violence.'
House of luxury: The production team will use the 15th century Alcázar Palace as the palace of the House Martell in Spain
HBO
renewed the show for two more seasons earlier this year and the
forthcoming fifth season has recently been filming in Spain with the
southern town of Osuna and city of Seville providing the locations for
the Westeros land of Dorne.
The production team is using using the 15th century Alcázar Palace as the palace of the House Martell.
In previous seasons, the ensemble show has filmed in Northern Ireland, Croatia and Iceland.
The
new series adapts material from A Feast for Crows and A Dance with
Dragons, the fourth and fifth in George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And
Fire series.
