5 Foods That May Hurt Female Fertility

5 Foods That May Hurt Female Fertility

For women who want to become pregnant, there are many factors that affect their fertility and their chances of conceiving. The diet has a large influence on fertility and can often make it difficult to become pregnant at a faster rate. To protect your fertility and cut out foods that may be harming it, there are a few products to eliminate from your diet completely.
5 Foods That May Hurt Female Fertility
1. Low-Fat Dairy Products
Although low-fat dairy products may seem ideal for women who want to manage their weight, the food can actually reduce fertility by preventing ovulation each month. According to a study performed by Jorge Chavarro, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard University, it can be difficult to conceive for women who consume more than two servings of low-fat dairy products each day. Limit your consumption and switch to regular dairy products.
2. Non-Fermented Soy
Soy is commonly perceived as a health food, but is considered a risk for those who are trying to get pregnant. According to www.natural-fertility-info.com, non-fermented soy should be avoided due to the isoflavones that work as a mild form of estrogen and ultimately lower the body’s level of estrogen. This can ultimately lead to infertility and make it difficult to conceive.

Scientists at Duke University Conclude That Women Need More Sleep Than Men

Duke University scientists find women need more sleep than men

Researchers have recently discovered that lack of sleep can be more physically damaging to women than to men. Scientists at Duke University conducted a study tracking 210 middle aged men and women who were never diagnosed with a sleeping disorder. Participants in the study did not use any medications, including hormone replacement therapy, and all participants were non-smokers.
Women Need More Sleep Than Men
The Basis Of The Study
Participants that met the above criteria were tracked by two methods. They were asked to record their sleeping habits and how they felt each morning after waking up and they provided blood samples so specific biomarkers could be tracked.
What the study found was that over 40 percent of people who normally did not think that they had a sleeping problem actually did. These “problems” were classified as having trouble falling asleep each night and frequently waking. Of this group, a majority of the people who had these problems were women.

Top Remedies to Remove Acne Scars

Acnes are most common among young people during and after puberty and they are equally affecting lives of both sexes. Women are much more likely to have acnes during old ages and the main reason are the hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle. Besides puberty and hormones, another cause can be an improper diet, the lack of nutrients, improper skin care or even stress. Acnes and pimples do not have a negative impact on the health of the body but they can leave scars on the skin and thus affect a person’s self-confidence as well as the social life.
acne 1
Since the emergence of this skin disease can be very intense you will probably try a lot of acne remedies so here are some natural resources that can help. All of these natural remedies are easy to find and they are certainly worth to try out because they can’t have negative effects on your skin.
Natural acne treatment
Sea salt – Here’s a simple remedy that you can try out. Briefly boil 2 dl of water and a half a teaspoon of sea salt. Clean the acne area several times a day with this solution using the cotton pads.
Apple cider vinegar – This is an old proven natural remedy for treating acne. Briefly boil 1/2 liter of water and add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Rub this solution on the acne area every day. Acne cider vinegar has antiseptic properties that prevent the growth of bacteria.
Honey and cinnamon – Eastern cultures treated acne and pimples with this mixture for thousands of years. Rub this mixture on a problematic area once a day before bedtime.
Cucumber – Make a mask out of fresh cucumber and place it on a clean face. This soothes the inflammation of the skin and that’s why it’s recommended for acne and pimples too.
Papaya – The juice of raw papaya should be prepared in a form of a face mask and applied with a cotton pad.
ACNE SCAR TREATMENT
The scars are define as fibrous tissue which replaces the normal skin structure due to an injury or a skin disease. The loss of skin tissue is much more common because of the acne formation than because of the new thickened tissue.
The clinical manifestation of these scars depends on the depth of the inflamed area. There are several successful medical procedures for removing acne scars.
Chemical peels
Chemical peels are done with single component trichloroacetic acid or in combination with salicylic or pyruvic acid. They are most commonly use for superficial peels and they are preformed in series of five peels for a month.

TORONTO — A number of female celebrities are speaking out about allegations by other women of sexual abuse by former CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi.
Canadian actress Polly Shannon, best known for roles on Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye and for portraying Margaret Trudeau in the 2002 TV movie Trudeau, said she is “not surprised” by the growing number of claims.
“We went on a date once and some of what these women mention was the same for [me],” Shannon wrote in a thread on the Facebook page of actress Maria Del Mar.
“He never hurt me but I was so repulsed by him and his arrogance I never went to his home.”
Shannon, 41, said Ghomeshi should be grateful it was a short date. “Had he punched me in the head I would likely have stabbed him in the throat,” she wrote.
Del Mar, who played a detective in the TV series Blue Murder, used her Facebook page to accuse Ghomeshi of being “a sexual predator” and “narcissist.”
She wrote: ”That is just my opinion. If all of this (and I believe it will) turns out to be true, he should be tried in court.”
Ghomeshi has denied the allegations and none of the women have filed criminal complaints against him with police.
On Monday, singer Lights, who is managed by Ghomeshi, posted a letter of support on her Facebook page.

Apple CEO Tim Cook says he's proud to be gay.
NEW YORK – Apple CEO Tim Cook says he’s proud to be gay.
In an essay written for Bloomberg Businessweek, Cook says that while he never denied his sexuality, he never publicly acknowledged it, either. Cook says that for years he’s been open with many people about his sexual orientation and that plenty of his Apple colleagues know he is gay.
“While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now,” he wrote.
“So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.”
Cook wrote in the column published Thursday that it wasn’t an easy choice to publicly disclose that he is gay but felt that his declaration could potentially help others.
The executive said he will continue to focus on being the best CEO he can be and will personally continue to advocate for equality for all people.
“If hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy,” said Cook.

Oppo N3 and R5 hands-on: First look

Introduction

Oppo's Singapore event is now under way and we were off to a great show - the star of the show took the stage just minutes after the start. The successor to the Oppo N1 is called Oppo N3 and retains the rotating camera module on the top, while adding a few nice extras on top. The Oppo N3 sports a 5.5" display, meaning it's much smaller than the 5.9" Oppo N1.
With 16MP on a 1/2.3" sensor and f/2.2 aperture, the Oppo N3 should be a potent cameraphone. The lens on the camera is also Schneider Kreuznach certified, while a nice touch to the rotating module is the added motor, which allows it to auto-rotate.

Each pixel is 1.34 microns which puts it above the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony's Xperia series, so in theory the Oppo N3 should be able to do better in low-light conditions. What's more interesting about the rotating Oppo N3 camera is its ability to move by itself, a whole 206 degrees. Oppo has named the module Motorized camera. Once the camera locks onto a subject it can track it by itself. Panoramas have also gotten better, now offering an automatic mode and a maximum resolution of 64MP.

Oppo N3 at a glance:

  • Dimensions: 161.2 x 77 x 9.9mm; 192g
  • Display: 5.5" TFT touchscreen, 1,080 x 1,920 resolution; around 401ppi; Gorilla Glass 3
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA chipset: quad-core Krait 400 @2.3GHz; Adreno 330 GPU; 2GB RAM
  • OS: ColorOS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Camera: 16MP Motorized camera with 4K@24fps video recording; 206-degree rotation, f/2.2 aperture, infrared and Bluetooth remote control, RAW support
  • Storage: 32GB built-in, microSD card
  • Connectivity: LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS + GLONASS; microUSB 2.0
  • Battery: 3,000mAh, VOOC rapid charging
  • Misc: Fingerprint scanner on the back

The camera suite of the N3 has been upgraded and is now called Ultra image 2.0. It has slow shutter, ultra macro mode, after focus, RAW support and manual control. The beautify mode is here once again.
The Oppo N3 has the the same pixel density as the Apple iPhone 6 Plus - 401ppi. There's a Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core Krait 400 processor and 2GB of RAM inside to keep things going smoothly. The Oppo N3 comes with ColorOS 2.0, which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat, no word yet on a CyanogenMod variant.
Built inside a stainless steel frame the Oppo N3 looks very sleek and premium. On the back it now has a fingerprint scanner, which can also be used to encrypt images.
The Oppo N3 comes with a breathing light under its display. Oppo calls it Notification Light 2.0. The O-Click remote is back as well, also in 2.0 form. It will help users to find the Oppo N3 and more.
The Oppo N3 supports VOOC rapid charging for its 3,000mAh battery. It can get to 75% battery from 30 minutes of charge. Oppo says you can get 2 hours of call time from 5 minutes of charging. There's a new mini VOOC charger specifically for the Oppo N3.
The price of the Oppo N3 at $649.
And now the Oppo R5 - praised by the company as the thinnest smartphone in the world at just 4.85mm. It packs a 5.2" 1080p AMOLED of 423 ppi, 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP on the front.

Android grows as iOS and Windows Phone decline in Q3

According to the latest Kantar WorldPanel report on mobile operating system market share, Android continues to take the lead marking a slight growth. Its main rivals, iOS and Windows Phone, declined slightly in their respective market share numbers.

In both Europe (EU5) and the US, Android leads its competitors with a market share of 73.9% and 61.8%, respectively. In Europe, Apple takes 15.4% of the market, while Microsoft with Windows Phone manages 9.2%. Interestingly, iOS marks a decline in the US of 3.3 percent points to 32.6% compared to Q2. Windows Phone's presence is also shrinking and is now 4.3% from 4.6%
As far as manufacturers go, LG and Motorola have been doing great in the US and Kantar sees them in a better position to fight with Samsung and Apple than ever. LG is counting on the G3, while Motorola is betting on the Moto X.
In China, Samsung is also feeling pressure from uprising manufacturers such as Xiaomi. It now boasts 30.3% market share whereas Samsung's market share fell to 18.4%. Interestingly, 16% of all smartphones sold in China were with a screen size of 5.5" or larger.

Motorola Nexus 6 hands-on: First look

Introduction

Motorola may have already divorced Google, but the relationship still bears fruit and most recently we've seen the Nexus 6. The first Nexus phablet and the first Nexus by Motorola closely follows the Moto X (2014) design language and brings many of the same software features, though now they are a native part of the OS.
Nexus 6 hands-on Nexus 6 hands-on Nexus 6 hands-on
Motorola Nexus 6 official images
The Nexus line is meant to lead the way to better smartphone design, but in this generation it plays a bit of a follower by jumping on the already speeding phablet bandwagon. Even so it's the introduction of Android 5.0 Lollipop and for the first time the vanilla OS has a few extra features against its skinned contemporaries.

Motorola Nexus 6 at a glance:

  • Dimensions: 159.3 x 83 x 10.1mm, 184g
  • Display: 5.96" AMOLED touchscreen, 1,440 x 2,560 resolution (493ppi); Gorilla Glass 3
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 805 chipset: quad-core Krait 450 @ 2.7GHz; Adreno 420 GPU; 3GB RAM
  • OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • Camera: 13MP main camera with ring dual-LED flash; Optical Image stabilization
  • Video camera: 2160p@30fps video
  • Front camera: 2MP
  • Storage: 32GB/64GB built-in
  • Connectivity: LTE Cat. 6 (300Mbps), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS + GLONASS; microUSB 2.0 with SlimPort functionality
  • Battery: 3,220mAh, Motorola Turbo Charger
  • Misc: Front-facing stereo speakers, Qi wireless charging
The Motorola Nexus 6 is strictly a phablet - we know the definition has shifted over the years, but in the end a phablet is a device that's pocketable but best used with two hands.
And standing at a whopping 159.3mm tall and 83mm wide, the Nexus 6 is a challenge to use with one hand. Most of that size is due to the screen, bezels are minimal and the 5.96" screen is left to dominate the front. It's a tack-sharp AMOLED of QHD resolution (493ppi).
A Snapdragon 805 chipset is the best showground for Android 5.0 Lollipop and for future versions to come. After all, part of the Nexus charm is that you stay up to date with Android's latest design and features. And there are plenty of features to be had, borrowed from Motorola's own-branded family. The always-on voice commands, the Ambient display and Turbo Charging.

Why scratching makes us itchy!

We all know that a good scratch will get rid of an itch - only for it to come back with a vengeance.
Now scientists claim to have finally worked out exactly why scratching always makes us itch even more.
Research indicates that scratching causes the brain to release serotonin, which intensifies the itch sensation.
Scientists claim to have answered one of life's nagging questions: why scratching makes us itch even more Scratching causes the brain to release serotonin, which intensifies the itch sensation
Scientists claim to have answered one of life's nagging questions: why scratching makes us itch even more Scratching causes the brain to release serotonin, which intensifies the itch sensation
The findings, in mice, indicate the same vicious cycle of itching and scratching is thought to occur in humans.
And the research also provides new clues that may finally help break that cycle - particularly in people who experience chronic itching.
Scientists have known for decades that scratching creates a mild amount of pain in the skin.
Senior investigator Doctor Zhou-Feng Chen, director of Washington University's Centre for the Study of Itch, said that pain can interfere with itching - at least temporarily - by getting nerve cells in the spinal cord to carry pain signals to the brain instead of itch signals.
Dr Chen said: 'The problem is that when the brain gets those pain signals, it responds by producing the neurotransmitter serotonin to help control that pain.'
As serotonin spreads from the brain into the spinal cord, the chemical can 'jump the tracks' – moving from neurons that sense pain to nerve cells that influence the intensity of an itch, she added.
Dr Chen said scientists uncovered serotonin's role in controlling pain decades ago, but this is the first time the release of the chemical messenger from the brain has been linked to itching.
As part of the study, the researchers bred a strain of mice that lacked the genes to make serotonin.

Why falling in love helps you lose weight and makes you feel like you're on drugs

Stage one increases libido, while stage two releases chemicals that replicate the effects of Class A drugs. Love can also impact weight loss, stress levels and sleep patterns
A heady mix of infatuation and attraction, the unmistakable flutter in your stomach and the realisation you are in love.

Your appetite wanes as you anxiously look forward to seeing the object of your affections, and your mind wanders, their presence occupying your every thought.
But a surge in your libido and a rise in testosterone levels in the body can leave you more prone to suffering an outbreak of unsightly spots, scientists say.
A new psychological study of couples identified the five stages of love - butterflies, building, assimilation, honesty and stability.
A new study by dating website eHarmony has identified the five stages of love - butterflies, building, assimilation, honesty and stability
Those taking part were asked to complete a psychological test to determine their true feelings.
The findings, collated by dating website eHarmony, were grouped into five stages.
Participants were asked questions about their behaviour and lifestyle, in order to uncover the impact love has on a person's health at each stage.
Psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos, who assisted with the study, told MailOnline the aim was to establish if there are distinct stages of love, how people feel and what happens to them physiologically.
She said: 'It's fascinating to note that this one core emotion can be broken down into such distinct stages.
'What's more, each stage may be relived and recaptured as couples grow into a relationship, and face different life challenges together.'

Dentist reveals how to EAT your way to whiter gnashers

Hard cheese, crunchy veg and citrus fruits could be the key to white teeth, according to one expert.
Most 'white teeth' diets focus on avoiding foods red wine, curry and coffee which stain the teeth, said Dr Anthony Zybutz, from Harley Street's TDC Implant Centre.
But its equally important to choose foods that actively work to clean the teeth and keep them sparking, he advised.
Hard cheese, crunchy veg and citrus fruits could be the key to white teeth, a top dentist has advised
Hard cheese, crunchy veg and citrus fruits could be the key to white teeth, a top dentist has advised
The desire for pearly white teeth is certainly not a modern phenomenon, he said.
He added: 'While celebrity culture has no doubt fuelled people's fascination with the perfect, sparkling smile, the origins of this most sought-after look go much further back than our current obsession with the Hollywood grin.
'The likes of Simon Cowell and Kim Kardashian may be famous the world over for their white teeth, but they certainly aren't the first to obsess about a pure white smile.'
In the 21st century, there are a myriad of products all promising to turn stained teeth back to gleaming white, but thousands of years ago, people were achieving the same look purely by brushing and eating the right foods, he said.
'There were no whitening gels or bleaches during the time of the Egyptians', he added.
'But that didn't stop the civilisation known for worshipping beauty wanting sparkling teeth.
'Pharaohs 4,000 years ago are known to have combined ground pumice stone with vinegar to create a paste in an effort to restore the natural colour.'

RAF jets scramble to intercept Russian bombers over North Sea as Nato reports dozens of planes in European airspace

Nato has sounded a warning after 26 Russian bombers, tankers and fighter jets on military exercises were intercepted around Europe in just 24 hours.
Jets were scrambled by the RAF and allies in Germany, Portugal and Turkey after the 'unusual' spike in activity, which saw two giant Tu-95 Bear H bombers fly close to Britain yesterday.
The alliance said Russia had conducted 'significant military manoeuvres in European airspace' - though it then added none of the planes had strayed into any specific country's territory.

The two Bear bombers had been part of an eight-plane formation which was first intercepted by Norwegian F-16s over at 2am yesterday.
While six of the planes returned back towards Russia, the two Bears carried on south west towards the UK where they were picked up by RAF Boulmer, Northumberland.

Nato said: 'The bomber and tanker aircraft from Russia did not file flight plans or maintain radio contact with civilian air traffic control authorities and they were not using on-board transponders.
'This poses a potential risk to civil aviation as civilian air traffic control cannot detect these aircraft or ensure there is no interference with civilian air traffic.'

What Really Causes Pimples?

Acne is one of the most common, chronic skin diseases, affecting more than 85 percent of teenagers and adults at some point.
How a pimple pops up has been a controversial question for years, as there are multiple factors at play, including excess oil/sebum production from the sebaceous glands, abnormal growth of the skin lining the hair follicle, inflammation, and bacterial colonization of the hair/sebaceous gland unit by the bacterium Proprionibacterium acnes.
For years, the concept of non-inflammatory and inflammatory acne has dominated our treatment approach. Noninflammatory acne means whiteheads and blackheads, while inflammatory acne means small to large red and pus-filled pimples. But more recently, we’ve learned that in fact ALL acne is inflammatory – even if you can’t see it on the skin, immune cells surround the hair follicle well before any sign of acne is visible to the naked eye.
A significant amount of research in the past 10 to 15 years has shown how part of the immune system, called the innate immune system (the first responder that signals the alarm if there are any infectious invaders), reacts inappropriately to P. acnes and calls in the immune troops. Elements of this immune system (called Toll-like receptors and inflammasomes) orchestrate the process, and it is therefore no surprise to dermatologists that while some of our current treatments work, they also inhibit these alarm systems.

Ben recently checked off one major goal: Watching the Northern Lights. This was made possible thanks to the kind-hearted Alaska airlines pilot.
“They were amazing, like watercolors painting the sky. It was really pretty,” Ben said in an interview for TODAY.
For his mom, the experience was bittersweet.

“I love watching his face and seeing his reaction,” said Heid. “But it’s also a little bit heartbreaking to see it, knowing why we’re there. I wish so much that we didn’t feel this urgency to go on these trips now.”

John Tory elected mayor of Toronto

Tory was the frontrunner through much of the campaign, leading in nearly every poll over the 10-month period, and won endorsements by veteran councillors, provincial cabinet ministers and former mayors.
The campaign itself, however, frequently descended into farce. And while it began as something of a referendum on Rob Ford’s mayoralty, that changed when the incumbent, who hung on to the mayor’s office long after he admitted to smoking crack cocaine, pulled out of the race due to a cancer diagnosis. His older brother, Councillor Doug Ford, claimed Rob Ford’s record as his own.
And while many expected former NDP MP Olivia Chow to ride to victory when she announced her candidacy, the ambitious progressive campaign many expected never materialized, and she was left trying to define herself in the final weeks of a marathon campaign.
Chow congratulated Tory during her concession speech at her party in Regent Park shortly after Tory was elected mayor.
She implored him to use his tenure as mayor to fight for the issues she championed during the campaign – inequality, especially.

Samsung Galaxy A5 price revealed before launch

The Samsung Galaxy A5 is one of the three upcoming smartphones from the company to feature a metal-clad frame and its price has been prematurely revealed by Kazakhstan carrier "Technodom". According to a leaked listing, the Galaxy A5 Duos LTE, as it's dual-SIM version is going to be called, costs about $552 or €435 (KZT 99,990).

This sounds a bit pricey for a smartphone with a 5" Super AMOLED display of 720p resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and 1GB of RAM. There's a microSD card slot on board as well as NFC and the phone will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.
Still, the metal frame brings the phone up a notch in terms of look and feel. As for dimensions, the Galaxy A5 measures 139.9 x 69.7 x 6.7mm and weighs 123 grams. At the back, there's a 13MP snapper with LED flash while a 5MP camera sits at the front.
We've seen the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 on video and in a ton of live photos, which show the phone from every angle.
There's no information when Samsung is going to officially announce the Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A7 smartphones. With all the leaks we have on track until now, we guess it's not going to be long until the phones become official.

Johnny Cash’s son arrested after stripping in Newfoundland airport

John Carter Cash

DEER LAKE, N.L. – The Mounties say the son of the late Johnny Cash was arrested in western Newfoundland after he stripped down to his underwear in an airport.
Two RCMP officers were called yesterday afternoon to the airport in Deer Lake where it was reported that John Carter Cash was either drunk or had medical issues.
Investigators say security personnel at the airport convinced the 44-year-old Cash to put his clothes back on prior to the arrival of two constables.
Cash was taken to a police station where the RCMP said he would remain in custody until sober.
The Mounties say no charges were laid because few people witnessed the events, Cash has no criminal record and he was co-operative with officers.
He missed his flight after a hunting trip in western Newfoundland but police say it’s expected he’ll catch another plane home Tuesday morning.

Friend of Boston bombing suspect convicted of lying to FBI

Robel Phillipos
BOSTON – A friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev  has been convicted of lying during the investigation into the 2013 attack.
Robel Phillipos, of Cambridge, was convicted of both counts Tuesday.
Prosecutors say he lied about being in Tsarnaev’s dorm room while two other friends removed potential evidence three days after the bombing while an intense manhunt was underway to find the suspected bombers.
FBI agents testified that Phillipos told them a string of lies before finally acknowledging he had been in Tsarnaev’s room at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth with the two men who removed Tsarnaev’s a backpack containing fireworks and laptop computer.
Phillipos’ lawyers said he was a frightened 19-year-old who was intimidated by the FBI and too high on marijuana to clearly remember what he did that night.

Exclusive photos: K-Switch's baby mama storms his Lekki home, security refuses to let her in

This happened just this afternoon. (don't ask me how I got the photos...hehe). So D'banj's younger brother Kayswitch's baby mama, Meena Subramani, stormed his home in Lekki Phase1 this afternoon demanding to see him, but for some reason, the security guards wouldn't open the gates. Meena, who got there by taxi and was carrying their 7 months old baby, started banging on the gate, shouting at security men and screaming that KaySwitch should come out and face her. She made a lot of allegations as she was screaming but I will leave that out for now.

The house belongs to D'banj but he's currently not in Nigeria. Nobody came out of the house for the hour or so Meena was outside creating a scene. She has since left.

I tried to reach Kayswitch to find out what happened but his phone was switched off. See more pics from the scene after the cut...
