Usher posts picture of his red eye amid rumours he got into a brawl defending girlfriend's honour

s a host of celebrities nurse hangovers and battle jetlag following their festive partying and trips away, Usher is nursing what appears to be a very painful injury.

On Friday, the 36-year-old star took to his Instagram account to share a close-up shot of his eye, which looked decidedly sore.

He captioned the picture, unveiled to his 2.5 million followers: 'You should see the other guy!!'

The snapshot was unveiled amid rumours that he got into a brawl at his New Year party at Miami nightclub E11even after a male attendee insulted his 44-year-old girlfriend, Grace Miguel.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Usher for comment.

However, he appeared to be in jovial spirits when he stepped out to shop at H Lorenzo in Beverly Hills, California, on Friday, smiling as he stepped out of his imposing Jeep Rubicon.

While the star has yet to reveal exactly how his injury came about, he has also been the focus of more positive rumours, as it's been claimed that he's set to wed his manager.

In an October interview with Billboard, he said: 'I have an incredible partner and manager. She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career.'

He continued: 'She’s someone who has been able to support and understand all of who I am. Not just as a dancer or as a performer or as a singer, but as a humanitarian and a businessman and as a person.
