Cheryl Fernandez-Versini turns guru on new album Only Human with spiritual teachings

Instead of sampling the inspirations of her favourite pop artists for her latest musical offering, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is sharing Buddhist wisdom on the opener of her new album.
The newly-married X Factor judge has adopted the beliefs of Western philosopher Alan Watts to her life and her work by including excerpts from his teachings in Only Human.
Cheryl said she was introduced to the guru by a friend last year - a time when she was coping with a divorce, the demise of her US career and recovering from the disease Malaria - and hasn't looked back since.

She told them: 'He says: "Whatever you want your life to be, live it." I was really moved by it.'
Watts, who died in 1973, is famed for introducing the Western world to Eastern beliefs, including Zen Buddhism.
Now, brunette beauty Cheryl has included a passage from one of the spiritual leader's activism audiobooks, Do You Do It Or Does It Do You? How To Let The Universe Meditate You on the introductory track to Only Human.

At the time when Cheryl - who returns to The X Factor UK this year - became familiar with the influencer, she was attempting to bounce back from being fired from The X Factor USA.
Her boss and close friend Simon Cowell stunted her break into the American market in its early stages by suggesting that she wasn't a good fit for the overseas audience.
The 31-year-old was also overcoming a very public separation from her cheating husband Ashley Cole and had only recently suffered with the near-fatal experience with Malaria during a charitable trip.

A source went on to tell The Sun: 'Cheryl was introduced to Alan's tapes with a very difficult few years of her life. It made her rethink things.
'She's at a completely different stage now and she wants to share a message of complete optimism.'
For Cheryl, things finally seem to be looking up again as she releases her fourth studio album while regaining her seat on the ITV judging panel.
The star has also recently married French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, with whom she appears to be besotted.
Cheryl now regularly uses her Instagram page to share her favourite spiritual quotes with her 1million social media fans.
