She has been throwing herself into her voluntary work since her latest break-up with Justin Bieber.
But Selena Gomez believes she still has some way to go when it comes to personal development as she revealed to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday.
Putting
on a brave face, the 22-year-old singer - who has posted a series of
emotional Instagrams in recent days - told the chat show host, 'They're
all like "be yourself, be yourself" and I’m still trying to figure out
who that is.'

The
Wizards Of Waverly Place star added, 'So, I know I’m not perfect, but I
know I have a lot of people that support me and love me. I don’t know, I
don’t want to let anyone down.
She continued: 'So I just try to be the best I can be. it’s awkward being 20. In our 20s.'
The comedienne asked Selena on a scale of one to ten how she thinks she is doing when it comes to working on herself.
Room for growth: The 22-year-old sat
down with Ellen to talk about growing up in the public eye and focusing
on things that matter

The Spring Break actress responded: 'Seven' with her host responding encouragingly: 'That's good'
'I
get to do amazing things like use my platform for things like UNICEF
and kind of just shift everything into what’s important and what
actually matters in the world. So that’s my plus side.'
The Who Says singer donned a preppy black mini-dress with a white flat collar and cuffs for her appearance.
She teamed it with chic black pumps and wore her brown locks super straight and glossy.
Before
her Ellen appearance Selena had just jetted back from Dallas, Texas,
where she was spending some time with family and friends, making time
for a quick trip to church on Sunday.
Turning to her faith: On Sunday Selena
went to church and listened to a message from pastor TD Jakes. She
captioned: 'Unbelievable message. Had me in tears. Thank you Bishop for
reminding me why I should always keep going'
Doing good: The Come And Get It singer also spent some time with sick children at an LA hospital last week
The
songstress shared a snap of herself alongside her pastor T.D. Jakes and
evidently moved by his message the star captioned: 'This morning at
@bishopjakes The Potters house. Unbelievable message. Had me in tears.
Thank you Bishop for reminding me why I should always keep going.'
Days earlier, Selena visited a children's hospital in LA to spend time with some of the young patients.
In
a statement the hospital told E! News: ‘Selena took the time to stop
and visit with each one, hear their stories, give hugs, share laughs and
provide encouragement,
‘It was a much-needed lift for these children and their families during an incredibly difficult time.
'We are so grateful for genuine kindness and compassion for our patients, families and the staff who care for them.’
