Furious 7 races past Disney's hit with a $1.3 billion box office take, making it the fifth-highest grossing movie of all time

There's no putting the brakes on Furious 7.
The latest blockbuster in the supercar action franchise continued to break box office records as it raced past $1.3 billion globally at the weekend, according to Variety.
It overtook Disney's hit Frozen to become the fifth-highest grossing movie of all time - in just four weeks.

Blockbuster box office: Universal's Furious 7, starring the late Paul Walker, has raced past Disney's Frozen to become the fifth biggest earner of all time with $1.32 billion

Furious 7 added $18.3 million at home, taking the top spot for the fourth week, and giving it a haul of $320.5 million.
However, its stunning $1 billion international take has made it only the third film to cross that mark after Jim Cameron's Avatar and The Titanic.
They are also the top two best earning pictures ever with Avatar taking $2.8 billion in 2009 and Titanic netting $2.2 billion in 1997. The Avengers holds No. 3 spot with a 2012 total of $1.5 billion.

And with Furious 7 still putting the pedal to the metal it looks highly likely to make the $20 million it needs to overtake the fourth most financially successful film, 2011's Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
The tragic 2013 death of Furious 7 star Paul Walker in a car crash during filming may be one of the factors contributing to the movie's amazing success as fans flock to see his last role.
At the time, Universal suspended production and there was some talk that movie would be scrapped altogether, ending the franchise that kicked off with 2001's The Fast And The Furious.

But Paul's brother Cody stood in for some shots with digital filling in the rest.
Last week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, co-star Vin Diesel told cinema owners that an eighth film in the series will debut on April 14, 2017.
The movie co-stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson.
