Kim Kardashian reveals she was a shy child and the lesson she learnt from the first time she fell in love

It is hard to imagine, but Kim Kardashian was once a shy retiring wallflower.
The 34-year-old has revealed she struggled to out herself out there socially when she was younger.
Speaking to Today's Matt Lauer on Tuesday night as part of his segment with some of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, Kim was asked what advice she would give her younger self.

While the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star did not answer the question directly, she did give an insight of what she was like growing up.
The reality star said: 'I wish I had more confidence when I was younger.'
When asked if she was insecure, Kim replied: 'Not really insecure, I was just really shy.'
Also giving the world a hint as to what she was like before she lived her life in front of the cameras, the reality star also spoke about falling in love for the first time.

The Today host asked a number of celebrities, including Bradley Cooper and Emma Watson, to speak about their first loves and they all gushed about the experience.
However, hinting at a tough period of time in her life, Kim's response was much darker.
The 34-year-old said: 'You think you know so much about love when you're really young and you look back later and probably realise it is not what you thought it was.'
Her response was most likely without warm fizzy feelings and fanfare because when Kim first feel head over heels for a man it ended in divorce.

At just 19 years of age, the star eloped with music producer Damon Thomas, who was ten years her senior.
The pair's three year union was allegedly filled with violence with Kim claiming in divorce papers that Damon would punch her in the face, slam her against walls and throw her across the room, leaving her bruised and battered.
His alleged bullying was so terrible he gave her money for liposuction because he wanted her to be 'perfect' and then forced her to quit school and stop socialising with friends.
Since then, of course, Kim has found happiness with Kanye West, who was also named in the Influential list.
The reality star is clearly putting him and her family first these days, as when asked what she felt she was running out if time for she said being with those she loves.
'Time is always running out. I feel like there's never enough time to spend with your family and the people you love.'

On a lighter note, the star shared her favourite lunch as a child.
'I always loved my best friend Allison [Azoff]'s lunch because she always got lots of Cheetos and Fritos and I was always stuck with really healthy food. I always begged her for some of her lunch.'
After her interview Kim and husband Kanye partied along other movers and shakers including Laverne Cox, Naomi Campbell and Karli Kloss at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Kanye was one of five people singled out to be on the cover of the magazine with Bradley Cooper, Misty Copeland, Jorge Ramos and Ruth Bader Ginsburg also featuring.
