It was a celebration for those named Time 100’s most influential people of the year.
And perhaps unsurprisingly, some of the honourees were feeling rather smug about being featured.
As the gala got underway, the guests mingled and fawned over one another, with many of them stopping to take selfies and pat each other – and themselves – on the back.

Martha Stewart cuddled up to Kanye West for a photo as selfie queen Kim Kardashian got behind the camera for a change to document the evening.
The 73-year-old was also cornered by model Karlie Kloss, 22, for a photo.
And Karlie had admirers of her own – she was stopped by Mia Farrow and Woody Allen’s son Ronan, who was there with his mother.

Nominees for the Time 100 list come from past honourees and the magazine’s writing staff, with the editors having the final say on who is selected.
And those picked are given more than just the title – each individual is written about by someone in their field of work, or a notable former honouree.
For this year’s issue, Taylor Swift wrote about Barefoot Contessa star Ina Garten, while Tilda Swinton penned a poem for comedienne Amy Schumer.

In Time's special issue Martha dubbed Kim 'the first lady of #fame,' describing her as 'beautiful in an exotic, totally exaggerated way.'
She concluded that behind the media phenomenon that is Kim Kardashian is a woman who 'exudes energy, sexuality, drama, determination, impetuousness and happiness.'

Some of the big names at the bash decided to continue the celebrations once the gala was over, and Kim couldn’t resist sharing a photo with her husband, Elon and Jawbone founder Hosain Rahman from an after party.
‘Oh just a few Time 100ers,’ the reality star unashamedly captioned the snapshot.
At the gala, the 34-year-old was also spotted gossiping with Katie Couric – showing that they have ended their feud once and for all.

Sharing a photo of the note she received from Katie, Kim wrote: ‘'#IHateFakeMediaFriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkSh*t'.’
It came after Katie said of the Kardashians to In Touch magazine: 'I don’t understand – why are they so famous? I think it’s mostly teenage girls that are interested.'
She quickly apologised and appears to have made amends with the reality stars since then.
