Miley Cyrus discusses dating women as she poses with a friend for #InstaPride campaign

Miley Cyrus revealed to Paper magazine last week that she came out as bisexual to her mother Tish when she was only 14-yer-old.
On Monday the 22-year-old talked more about her sexuality when interviewed by Time about her collaboration with Happy Hippie - her non-profit dedicated to helping homeless and LGBT youth - and Instagram to spread positive images of gender-nonconforming people with her #InstaPride campaign.
The Wrecking Ball admitted she when she was with women, she felt she needed to 'protect' them and be 'macho.'

The subject was broached when she talked about being around 'overly macho energy.'
The Hannah Montana vet said, 'That made me feel like I had to be a femme-bot, which I’m not. And then when I was with a girl, I felt like, "Oh s***, she’s going to need someone to protect her, so I’m going to need to have this macho energy." And that didn't feel right either.'
Cyrus told Time she started crying when she looked at the older heterosexual couples around her when enjoying Valentine’s Day with a male date in a restaurant this year.

'All the women in the restaurant were with these older, fat men that had just let themselves go,' said Cyrus.
'They were just being drunk bastards. And then the women were sitting there, trying so hard just to look good. And they’re ignoring them the whole time.
Miley added, 'And I thought, "I’m not living like this. If I end up in a straight relationship, that’s fine—but I’m not going to be with f***ing slob guys who are watching porn, making all their girls feel ugly.'

The Last Song actress was engaged to Liam Hemsworth and dated Patrick Schwarzenegger, but has never named a female lover.
She said her parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus have something to do with her gender thoughts.
'I don’t associate men and protection necessarily,' she said.
'I think that’s what’s given me the openness of sexuality. Not that my dad wasn’t an awesome protector, but I trust my mom to save me. She’s the prince. I never had that fairy tale.'
A new look: The Wrecking Ball hit maker is sharing images where people don't look like a certain mold because what she has seen on Instagram bothers her. 'You look at Instagram and you think, "Oh, I don’t look that way." And it makes you feel like s***,' she explained

As far as dating, it is easy for her to find a lover, but not a soul mate.
'F***ing is easy. You can find someone to f*** in five seconds. We want to find someone we can talk to. And be ourselves with. That’s fairly slim pickings,' said the We Can't Stop singer.
She then talked about social media, explaining how it can make people feel bad.
'You look at Instagram and you think, "Oh, I don’t look that way." And it makes you feel like s***. You start scrolling and you see all these people you’ll never be like and they have so many followers and so many friends.'
Experimenting: Cyrus told Paper last week, 'I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with'

That is what motivated her #InstaPride campaign, which she shared images from on Monday and Tuesday.
'That’s why we want to do it through Instagram—enough of these pictures. Let’s get some likes on some real pictures.'
Cyrus told Paper last week, 'I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult - anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me.'
The Tennessee native added, 'I’m just equal. I’m just even. It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel.'
